Haedong Yonggungsa Temple ( 해동용궁사 )

Haedong Yonggung Temple is a Buddhist temple in Busan (btw, a new Lotte Outlet mall has just opened up very close to here). This is the second time I have been here and would happily go again the next time I am in Busan (as it is a nice place to visit and there is an awesome Jja jang myeon (짜장면), Jjamppong (짬뽕) & Tang Su Yuk (탕수육) which always satisfies a hungry stomach).

  1. Hi! May I ask which month did you visit this temple as photographed? The cherry blossoms are in full bloom! 🙂

    1. Hi Janine,

I visited the temple on the 3rd of April. If you want to see cherry blossoms in Busan (normally it is best to go from the 1st April – 10 April). Please be aware the dates are different for each city (eg: in Seoul the cherry blossoms will open earlier or later than Busan).

  2. Thank you for making this post. It is extremely helpful. I have a question for you. I want to do a 1 day trip to Busan but would like to visit the Heading Yonggungsa Temple. What is the best itinerary for it? Thank you so much.

    1. Hi Linh,

I would visit: Nampodong/Jagalchi, Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, Haeundae Beach/Dalmaji Road, Gwangalli Beach (at night).

I you feel that you have extra time I you could do some shopping at Shinsegae Department Store after visiting Haeundae Beach.

      Hope that helps 🙂

  3. Hi !! Thanks for all your work and help, your blog is awesome. I’m planning my whole trip with it ! I would like to ask you how to get this temple from Seomyeon or Haeundae beach. And also need to know if it’s possible to swim in the beach during last week of September … Cheers from Argentina my friend !

    1. Hi Mario,

To get from Seomyeon Station to Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, there are a couple of ways:

Simply catch the subway to Jangsan Station (장산역) and then catch bus number 9 ( http://naver.me/FcEYwnTx )

Or Simply catch the subway to Jangsan Station (장산역) and then catch bus number 100 ( https://goo.gl/maps/kSACd1cgc152 )

Should be ok for the end of september. might be a little cold but still OK 🙂

  4. Hi, may i know what’s the restaurant name or specific address/location of the place where you had Jja jang myeon (짜장면), Jjamppong (짬뽕) & Tang Su Yuk (탕수육) please?

    1. Hi Wern,

The name of the restaurant is 용궁해물쟁반짜장. You can see some photos of it here.

Location is also on the link I provided – walking distance from Yonggungsa Temple (maybe 10-15 mins).

  5. Hello,

Love your blogs here, I think it really helps a lot of people who would like to visit Busan. Like myself 🙂
I would be arriving in Seoul on 29th Sept morning time, and on the next day before traveling to Busan would stop over at Jeonju and visit Hanok Village till afternoon then continuing the trip to Busan. So we should be arriving at Busan right before dinner time.
Here’s my itinerary for the :
1st Oct : Visit Cliffside Haedong Yonggungsan, Lunch at Jagalchi Fish Market, Dinner at Nampo Dong
2nd Oct : Visit TaejongDae, Gamcheon Culture Village, Haeundae Beach, Dinner at Dongnae
3rd Oct : Back to Seoul in the morning

What do you think? Would need to have your suggestion as the expert. Or please advise if I should change or add more destination. Thank you very much.

    Regards,
    Airin

    1. Hi Airin,

I would change it a little bit to make it easier for travelling:

1st Oct : Visit Cliffside Haedong Yonggungsa, Haeundae Beach, Dinner at Gwangalli Beach

2nd Oct : Visit Taejongdae, Lunch at Jagalchi Fish Market, Gamcheon Culture Village, Dinner at Nampo Dong

3rd Oct : Back to Seoul in the morning

Gwangalli for dinner at night is must. Don’t miss it 🙂
